Georgia High School - State Dance Championship was founded in 2011 exclusively for Georgia High School Dance programs. State Dance Championship is an annual dance competition that targets Performing Arts Dance, Marching Band Auxiliary, High School Dance Teams and Soloist performances. SDC is a voluntary organization opened to all Georgia High Schools, public and private schools and strives to promote good sportsmanship and the utmost spirit among its member schools. Our competition endeavor is to maintain high standards so that each dancer competing in each school is on the same competitive level across the state. SDC focuses on the highest standards of dance competition in the state of Georgia. SDC's goal is to inspire leadership amongst Georgia High School Dance programs and inspire the continuation of dance beyond the high school level. SDC believes that the primary purposes of dance programs are to support athletic programs and to provide entertainment to the crowd before and during games. Dancers play an instrumental role in leading and maintaining school spirit in and around their communities as well as building confidence within their organizations membership.
Each competitive team is divided by divisions and categories of dance styles to accommodate all classification and region operated by the schools in the state of Georgia. The ultimate award is given to each division title and that is "Georgia High School State Dance Champions." SDC sets standards and guidelines through our registration and application process. SDC promises to bring positive recognition to dance programs in high schools throughout the state of Georgia.
Our mission is to provide the best possible competitive environment to showcase the highest level of competitive dance amongst Georgia High Schools. SDC hopes to inspire each dancer to experience the elements of dance, confidence, creativity, self-esteem and an appreciation for dance in our high schools.
